What is SEO?
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization helps people using search engines find your content.
Paul Yasi
SEO is not black magic!
Making content for internet users is how you can be found online and provide your product or services to them. When you know what words and phrases your potential customers are using to refer to your products and services you can tailor the content of your website to match their search queries. Then you will come up in the results for those requests.
By following good SEO practices, you help bolster the investments you have made in your website and online presence.
How can I get to the top of Google?
You may or may not rank at the top of Google with good SEO, but you can significantly improve your ranking and may eventually get to the top by following good practices. SEO will help you get higher on google, bing, duckduckgo, and others depending on what the search engine thinks of your content, and how relevant and authoritative the algorithm decides it is to the search query.

Types of SEO
There are four main types of SEO and you should make sure you are covering all of them to preserve your investment in your web presence.
On-Page SEO
On-Page SEO is the content that you control on your own website. What your URL's are, the Page Titles, the descriptions that search engines read, the headings and content of your web pages are all part of on-page SEO. When this content is relevant to what someone is searching in the search engine, it is more likely that those pages are going to rank more highly in the results.
Technical SEO
Technical SEO has to do with having good information architecture, fast loading times, pages that can be properly viewed on mobile and desktop, and that your site is indexable by the search engine.

Off-page SEO
Off-page SEO is about links that are inbound to your webpages. These often come in the form of backlinks, guest posts, and social media. Having good backlinks is necessary to help show your site has authority in its field. There are ways to get good organic backlinks from business associations, media stories, industry forums and other places. There are also places to purchase or exchange backlinks that can be ok for some sites, or very bad for others. Your site ranking can be harmed with links from sites that have low reputations.
Local SEO
Local SEO is about optimizing your content for your local city and state. If your business operates in specific locations then it is vital that you indicate that on your website. For instance HyperPaste is in the Springfield Massachusetts area. HyperPaste has a Google Business Profile for this area, with a number of service area pages specifically targeted to cities and towns where we would be happy to meet with customers in person.
